Yes, I'm a year late in declaring the 1998 BarHopp'R Angler of the Year. It's been a difficult decision, because there were many deserving customers. This award has never been based on one fish until this year, but the circumstances surrounding this fish are just too unique to go unmentioned. Steve's 21 pound snook was the first snook he'd ever caught, was caught in heavy cover, on 12 pound test line, on his second cast of the morning. Yes, it takes a hell of a lot of luck to land a snook like that in close quarters, but it also takes an angler who makes no mistakes. To Steve's credit, he listened to his coach and executed through all of the excitement and adreneline. Way to go, Steve!
The thing that pushed me over the edge with picking Steve and his snook was the fact that he had nerve enough to ask for it!
