The BarHopp'R kayak fleet currently consists of a Native Watercraft Ultimate 12 ft. Angler (camo), and three Native Ultimate 14.5 Anglers (camo). The Native Ultimates have a beam of 30 inches. Empty hull weight of the 12 footer is 58 pounds, and the weight capacity is 350 pounds! The 14.5 footers are about 10 pounds heavier, and have a weight capacity of nearly 100 pounds more!
The Ultimates are technically sit-in-kayaks (SIK), but are open like a canoe as opposed to a conventional SIK. This new generation of kayaks are known as hybrids (Hyb). Each Native Watercraft can be equipped with a 30 pound thrust Minn Kota or Jarvis Marine Watersnake trolling motor that is powered with an Odyssey PC-925 12V battery stored in the kayak. There is a small extra charge for the trolling motor setups (see rates page), as those batteries are very light and very expensive. Accessories on board include light kayak PFD's, anchors and/or 5 ft. 6 in. stakeout poles, whistles, VHF radio, high-back seat, foot rests, built-in rod holders, tackleboxes and terminal tackle, optional trolling motors, built-in Whale bilge pumps (1,300 GPH),and at least two rods/reels.
All kayaks are extremely stable, and the Native Ultimates can accommodate stand-up anglers unless you have balance issues. If you are an angler of advanced age who is missing the fun of fishing the flats because you have a hard time keeping your balance in conventional kayaks and skiffs, fear not, the Native Ultimate is extremely stable, and perfect for you. You will be very comfortable fishing from this platforms.
