Fishing Captiva Island

Fishing Captiva Island is Capt. Butch Rickey's favorite passtime. You'll be messmerized and captivated by this beautiful, alluring island known as Captiva, where he spend much of his youth growing up. Legend holds that notorious pirates and conquistadors once roamed both Captiva and Sanibel Islands, and that they kept women isolated on Captiva, and men on Sanibel. The mystery and adventure is still in the air. And, when you're not out fishing you have spectacular white sand beaches scattered with "sea treasures", pastel colored seashells and breathtaking sunrises and sunsets that offer the perfect beginning and end to your day. The island is rich with superb accommodations, restaurants & shopping.

Captiva Island, little sister to the larger Sanibel Island, is just over the Blind Pass Bridge which crosses the now closed pass at Turner Beach. Turner Beach is a great place to fish, especially for snook during the warmer months from May through October. The beautiful beaches offer the great shelling these islands are famous for. Captiva's beach stretches 5 miles north from Blind Pass to Redfish Pass, which overlooks North Captiva Island. From the bridge at Turner beach, it's a wonderfully scenic drive past colorful and fragrant plumaria, giant cactus, colorful bougainvilleas and other tropical flora along a scenic stretch of sea and sand that takes you to "downtown" Captiva, which is really more of a village, and eventually to South Seas Plantation .

Planning a fishing vacation or quick get-away to wet a line? Longing for that tropical attitude? Look no further! Come and enjoy an angling adventure on "the BarHopp'R" Web Page. You'll find boundless stories, tips, secrets, and other information in the "Weekly Reports", "Customer Testimonials", "Angler of the Month", "Angler of the Year", "Newsletters", "Highlights", "Articles and Recipes", and "Fish Species Description" sections of this Site.
