Pine Island Fishing Guide Secrets are Revealed!

fishing pine island

Fishing Pine Island is one of Capt. Butch Rickey's favorite passtimes. You'll be messmerized and captivated by this beautiful, alluring island known as Pine Island. The secluded, quaint and "country waterfront" atmosphere is a huge part of the charm of fishing Pine Island. Protected by extensive mangrove shorelines rather than white sand beaches, Pine Island has escaped the concrete, blacktop, skyscrapers, high prices, and traffic jams found in the more touristy, beachy communities. Existing legislation prohibits high density, high-rise development in the foreseeable future . . . designed to preserve the unique, rural island heritage that is unique to fishing Pine Island for generations to come.

A day on the water is not complete without a stop at the locally famous Waterfront Restaurant, for what will surely be some of the best food you've ever had the pleasure of eating. In all the years I've been guiding, I have not had even one person who was disappointed with the food, or who thought it didn't live up to the billing! That's quite a record.

At nearly 17 miles long and 2 miles wide, Pine Island (in Lee County) is the largest island on the west coast of Florida. It's just a 15 to 20 minute to Cape Coral, 30 minutes to Ft. Myers, and about an hour from Southwest Florida International Airport (RSW). It is a bit remote for some folks, and being an interior island, has no beaches. But, if you love the relaxed, slow pace of life that is lost to most, if you love knowing all your neighbors, and a true sense of community, you'll love Pine Island.

Capt. Butch Rickey spent much of his youth living on Sanibel and Captiva Islands, and has spent much of his life chasing fish inthe Sound, Charlotte Harbor, and Sarasota Bay. His knowledge of the local waters, years of experience, highly specialized flats boat, and strong work ethic, combine to give you aangling experience you'll never forget.

Capt. Butch's air-entrappment tunnel-hull Talon F-16 flats boat is an unbelievably stable and roomy angling platform that will add to your overall fun, safety, and comfort. It is powered by Yamaha 150 HP Saltwater Series motor, and will run and float in unbelievably shallow water. It will get you to where the fish are quickly, safely, quietly, and in dry comfort.
