KAYAK FISHING DESTINATIONS
Lee County - Pine Island Sound - Matlacha Pass
- Punta Rassa Flats (Summerlin Rd.)
A couple of miles of beautiful flats on your left as you're approaching the Sanibel Causeway.
- Bunch Beach Preserve - Access to San Carlos Bay
White sandy beach overlooking Ft. Myers Beach to the left, and Sanibel to the right. Lots of fishing opportunities, as well as bird watching opportunities.
- Bunch Beach Preserve Park Ramp- Access to San Carlos Bay

- Port Sanibel Marina
Past Shell Point Rd. on the right as you're approaching Punta Rassa Ramp. Access to tons of small mangrove keys and oyster bars.
- Sanibel Causeway Island Park - On the B Span
Great access to Fisherman's Key, as well as several others and to several oyster bars. Great trout fishing during winter and spring, as well as redfish.
- Bowman's Beach - Sanibel Island close to Blind Pass
Summer time hot spot for beach snooking, as well as trout, mackeral, shark, and ocassionally, redfish.
- Castaways - At Blind Pass
Oh, now we're talking! Easy access to some of my favorite snook and redfish grounds on the Buck Key flats and around Wulfert Keys, which is now a no motor zone. On the right just before you go over the Blind Pass bridge on to Captiva.
- Pine Island Commercial Marina - Known as the Co-op
Kayak access to Demere Key, Hemp Key, Panther Keys, Captiva Rocks, Cork Key, Cork Island, Mason Key, and Pumpkin Key. Only open to public on weekends.
- Pineland Marina - Village of Pineland
Kayak access to Patricio, Broken, Part, and Josslyn Islands, and Darling, Black, Coon, Cove, Wood, Benedict, Cat, and Rat Keys.
- Jug Creek - North end of Pine Island
Kayak access to northern end of Bokeelia Island, Little Bokeelia, Mondongo Rocks, Patricio Island, Broken Island, and Camp Key.
- Charlotte Harbor Preserve - Annie's Creek
Kayak access to the Burnt Store shoreline and keys.
- Bokeelia Boat Ramp and Cottages
Kayak access to all of Jug Creek's features, canals, and small bays.
Estero Bay
- Pink Shell Resort and Spa
Kayak access to San Carlos Island, Estero Bay, and Hurricane Bay
- Matanzas Pass Preserve
Kayak access to Estero Bay, Hurrican Bay, and Hell Peckney Bay
- Lovers Key State Park
One of my favorites! Kayak access to Lovers Key, New Pass, Big Carlos Pass, and Black Island. A lot of great fishing from the dock on out.
- Koreshan State Historic Site
One of Florida's mosst unusual riverside parks features the remains of a utoppian pioneer settlement founded in 1894. On the Estero River.
- Big Hickory Fishing Nook and Marina
Big Hickory Fishing Nook offers kayak access to Little Hickory Island, Estero Bay, Big Hickory Pass, Fish Trap Bay, and Intrepid Waters
- Imperial River Boat Ramp
About six miles east up the Imperial River from Fish Trap Bay.
- Week's Fish Camp
Access to a lot of mangrove shoreline and great oyster bars and mangrove keys.
Charlotte County
- Darst Park, 537 Darst Ave., Punta Gorda, FL
East of I-75 off Riverside Drive, this park gives access to many nameless keys and islands for great fishing and sightseeing in the Peace River!
- El Jobean Boat Ramp, 4224 El Jo Bean Rd., Port Charlotte
This ramp gives great kayak access to Tippecanoe Bay, Muddy Cove, and Deerfly Bay in Charlotte Harbor across from Punta Gorda.
- Port Charlotte Beach Park, 4500 Harbor Blvd., Port Charlotte
Farther east up the river from Darst Park.
Sarasota County
- Centennial Park, 1059 Tamiami Trail and 11th Street, Sarasota
Access to lower Sarasota Bay, City Island, Coon Key, Bird Key, St. Armands Key, Otter Key, Lido Key, Bay Island, and Edwards Islands
- Ken Thompsoon Park, 1700 Ken Thompson Pkwy., Lido Key, Sarasota Bay
This facility on City Island gives access to the same areas as Centennial Park, as well as the southern end of Longboat Key
- Turtle Beach, 8918 Midnight Pass Road, Siesta Key, Little Sarasota Bay, Sarasota
This is one of my favorite areas to fish in Sarasota County, and is great for kayaking. It gives multiple access to the Bird Keys, and old Midnight Pass.
- North Jetty Park, 1000 Casey Key Rd. at Venice Inlet, Nokomis
On the north side of Venice Inlet with easy access to Turner Key, Snake Island, Bird Island, and famous Snook Alley.
- Blackburn Point Park, on Sarasota Bay, Osprey
This little ramp on the right just over the swing bridge on Casey Key will only accomodate kayaks, canoes, and very small boats. But, it gives access to some great fishing areas north and south of the bridge. Easy to spend a day in that area, and another one of my favorites.
