John and his good friend Pete McDevitt, of Lake Placid, Florida, drew a textbook day for fishing the Lee Island Coast. The wind was calm and the temperature in the low 80's. A perfect day for beach snooking.
Most of the clients I take beach snooking have the same opportunity to catch lots of snook. The main factor in measuring success is the number of fish your customer puts in the boat. When considering my Angler of the Month award, I look at the number of anglers fishing, length of the trip, and number of fish caught. In other words, four guys that catch 50 snook have not done as well as two guys that catch 50 snook.
Well, the John and Pete duo boated over 60 snook on the morning of May 18, 1997, and God only knows how many they let get away. That's a lot of snook in one morning of fishing for just 2 anglers. John and Pete are the undisputed champs for May.
