Hello Butch,
You wanted me to write you after I got back up here to Portland, and tell you how the tarpon fishing went. Sorry that it has taken so long, but you would not believe all the junk I have had to catch up; on.
As far as the tarpon fishing went, you were right, and we were among 30-40 other boats jigging two deep holes in the ocean. Then in the afternoon we used crabs in the current. I was on the water for 9 hours, and in that time had one bite, the good thing was that the bite turned out to be a 80-90 LB tarpon. It took about 20 minutes to land the fish, and my arms were dead. I believe only 4 or 5 fish were caught that day, and I can't say that I would do it again, but it was fun to do once.
But, if I am ever back down that way, I would definitely want to go out snook fishing with you again on your boat. In the meantime, I will practice casting small weights etc. Once again, I want to thank you for a great time, and I am still waiting on those photos, anxiously.
Take care, and you'll probably hear from me again at some point.
Redfishless,
Ken
