I'm trying to take some time off during August, as I usually do. I had no trips this week, so in keeping with the feature I started last week, I have included some great catches submitted by some of my friends.

First though, I want to announce the grand opening of American Legacy Fishing Company, LLC, by my good friend Tom Ashby. Tom's store is the very first G. Loomis super store, and his inventory includes virtually anything and everything made my G. Loomis. Here are the particulars:

   Tom Ashby
   American Legacy Fishing Company, LLC
   500 N. Congress Ave.
   Suite A
   Evansville, IN 47715

   Business Phone 812-402-6350

   Business Fax  812-402-6352

And, in case you're not in the Evansville area the web address is www.gloomis.com . You can also reach Tom by email HERE. I have known Tom and his wife Dixie for years, now, and can tell you with absolute certainty that they are wonderful, caring people who will do eveything in their power to make you a very happy customer.

I would love to see all my friends and readers make Tom and Dixie at American Legacy Fishing Company, LLC, your source for America's best rods. Tell Tom you're also a friend/customer of mine.

Second, I want to help my friend Chris Foust get the word out about a wonderful tournament he has organized to benefit www.AutismSpeaks.org. It is the First Annual Daniel Keyes, Jr. Autism Awareness Tournament, to be held on October 6, 2007. Just click HERE to view and print tournament rules and entry forms. It's for a great cause, and you could bring home some serious bucks!

Next I want to introduce you to a friend of mine. His name is Harold Ball, and he is a fellow angler, collector, and writer from Ontario, Canada, who possesses a rare gift at the keyboard. The two following pictures were taken at Great Bear Lake, in northern Canada, but it's really the stories at I want you to enjoy. Just click on this LINK, and from the homepage click "In the Land of the Giants" and "Breaking Twigs". "Breaking Twigs" will stir your soul. Take a few minutes to read it.

Next is a great picture submitted by my customer Jason DeArman, of his lovely wife Tara, with her 8 pound bonefish caught in Turks & Caicos with Capt. Ed Missick. This fish was caught on a little george while being bounced across the flats!!

Also this week, a picture of a nice smallmouth bass around five pounds, caught by my bud Craig Holmes, of LA, who was fishing Lake Oahe, in South Dakota, with his good friend Steve Weasel, of Cape Coral, Florida. They were fishing in 110 degree heat, and had to fish down deep. They had good action on fish like this one.

Last for this week is a report I just received from my old friend Eric Fosbender, of Davie, Florida. Eric and his best fishing bud, Justin, just finished a weekend Tortugas trip on Capt. Ken's Sea Trek, out of Ft. Myers Beach, and had one of the best trips thy've ever had. They caught a ton of fish on the trip that takes about eight hours to reach the fishing grounds from FMB!
