The week started out on a sour note. I had the full week of 10/28 through 11/1 booked by James Cocalas, of Northfield, IL, back in May. I had taken him out and didn't require a deposit. Well, this is a classic case of one guy messing it up for everyone. He stood me up, and I will have to require a deposit on advance bookings whether I've had you out in the past or not. What really gets me is that he didn't even have the common courtesy to call and let me know he had no intention of showing. A real winner!

As it happened, Vinny Lysobey, of Bradenton, who had prepaid for a trip for his father far in advance, but not chosen a date, called and wanted to go on short notice. I was happy to oblige. We had a super low tide, and went pothole fishing in the Sound. One of the first holes I hit was full of snook! Vinny and Dad caught 13 beautiful snook, all 6 to 9 pounds out of that hole. Vinny said it was the most and the biggest snook he'd ever caught. We rounded out the day with 1 redfish, 1 flounder, and 18 beautiful trout. I took `em home tired and happy.

Later in the week I took my old friend Terry Bair to north Sarasota Bay for some live bait fishing. Bait was a little hard to find, and in fact, had moved up into real shallow water. We got plenty for the two of us. Fishing also started out slow, but finished with a bang. We picked 8 reds out of the potholes in Buttonwood, along with 6 trout and 2 jacks, and then late in the afternoon, I found snook holding on a flat near a channel, and we caught 13 snook up to 29 inches out of that one spot. A total of 29 fish wasn't bad.

Next week I'm doing the first of two scheduled shoots with Barber/Myrick Pictures for a video called " Florida Fishing Adventures: How To Catch Redfish".. There's no pressure like having a camera rolling! I hope all goes well.
