Fishing Report for Week Ending 12/8/96

The first trip of the week was with Lou Salemi, who I'd had out the week before with his best friend, Dr. Dennis Mikutis. This time we would fish Sarasota Bay. Once again, it was terribly windy; out of the east at 20 knots. There's an old cliche' that goes, "Wind from the west, fishin' is best. Wind from the east, fishin' is least." It's usually true, but not on this day. Lou bagged 15 to 20 reds to 25", 3 snook, 4 flounder, 5 ladyfish, and over 22 nice trout up to 22 inches. He was a happy camper, and couldn't wait to tell Doc.
I was booked for the following day by Kyle and Marsha Clark, of Arlington, Texas. Marsha had booked several days earlier from Texas, but there wasn't time to get a deposit here before they got here, so I waived the deposit. Well, they stood me up. Worse, they didn't even have the courtesy to call and tell me they weren't going to show. I could say a lot more about this, but I'll leave it saying that I am working on having credit card capability.
That Saturday I had Arleene McLarty from St. Cloud over for a day of R and R. We drew another bad weather day, with winds out of the southwest at 25. It made fishing difficult, to say the least. Arleene did manage a couple of reds, a 26" snook, and about 10 trout to 21 inches.
Now that we're getting into the winter pattern, wind is going to be a fact of life until April.
