Great shelling, sightseeing, beach combing, and fishing are the things the beaches of Sanibel, Captiva, North Captiva, and Cayo Costa Islands are famous for. However, with the increase in tourism have come more and more people picking shells from our beaches. Tourboats go as far as North Captiva with their customers, but not to Cayo Costa. North Captiva and Cayo Costa are accessible only by boat, so Cayo Costa remains one of the top shelling beaches in the world. It's private and remote, and you can really work on your tan while you pick up shells. You can pack a picnic lunch, or we can stop for lunch at one of the numerous waterfront restaurants like the restaurant at Cabbage Key, the Green Flash on Captiva, or the Waterfront on Pine Island.

If you're more into seeing our beautiful backcountry and all the myriad mangrove islands and keys, and abundant wildlife, you might prefer a sightseeing trip. You'll see beautiful mangrove keys and islands, lush grass flats, oyster bars, the numerous passes, and our beautiful beaches. You'll see herons, terns, gulls, pelicans, ospreys, eagles, egrets, and other birds on and above the water. You'll have a chance to see porpoise, manatee, stingrays, turtles, fish, and yes, maybe even an alligator.
